
2006 Ford Expedition
The 2006 Ford Expedition has many uses, but is primarily being used for traffic safety. The Expedition has all the equipment of a patrol car for making traffics stops. The Expedition is also setup to pull all of our equipment. Such as the "sobriety checkpoint trailer" with all the equipment needed to conduct a safe and successful DUI checkpoint, and the "Half Car" for our "Child Passenger Safety Program", the Golf Cart for our "Fatal Vision Program", and the "Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer" used for speed awareness on our streets and in our neighborhood. Our Assistant Police Chief, is a district coordinator for the Governor's Highway Safety Office and conducts monthly law enforcement agency network meetings in Morristown, and he has to attend numerous GHSO meetings in Nashville, so the Expedition will be used for these types activities. This vehicle truly is a great asset to our department.

Records of all incidents are now computerized for instant access, and produces legal documentation in a precise and professional manner.
One of the most exciting and innovative items of specialized equipment that is utilized by officers in the Operations Division is the placement and use of the " in car " video systems. In early 1999 took a leap into the 21st century when the Governing body for the Police Department made it possible for all vehicles utilized for patrol work to be equipped with these systems. Making the Mount Carmel Police Department unique in the region, for technology of this kind in every vehicle. It gives the officer the evidence needed to make charges stand and eliminate the "loopholes" in the justice system. Any action which would constitute the officer having contact with the public on a call related manner is captured on video. The video image is stamped with an electronic time and date stamp, and therefore there can be no question of guilt with actual audio and video footage to more clearly demonstrate to any judge or jury the events of any incident in question.
Anytime an officer activates his emergency lights the video systems are activated, and is there to record every detail. However, in the event that an officer should require the assistance of the video equipment, the system may be activated without activation of the emergency equipment with the touch of a button. So to it eliminates frivolous, unsubstantiated complaints on officers which indirectly takes valuable time and resources away from you. Since the introduction of this valuable piece of Police Equipment the internal affairs section has seen a substantial decrease in the number of complaints filed against officers of the department.
